In 2017, PPIE launched an Advisory Council for business and education leaders who are committed to Pleasanton schools. The purpose of the council is to promote business-school collaboration. We host small group discussion lunches at key business partners to further this goal – please see our meeting minutes and list of attendees here:
- Robert Half International – Advisory Council Lunch 1-11-2019
- Clorox – Advisory Council lunch 9-28-2018
- Huntington Learning Center – Advisory Council lunch 5-18-2018
- Workday – PPIE Advisory Council lunch 2-15-2018
- Robert Half International – PPIE Advisory Council lunch 12-15-2017
- Oracle – PPIE Advisory Council lunch 9-28-2017
We also initiate impactful business-school projects, including the following:
- “Speed interviews’ with high school students to provide 15-minutes mock interviews with business professionals to prepare students for the future. We held the first program at Foothill High School with over 100 students, which was a great success. Special thanks to Tami Raaker and the entire DECA program at Foothill for doing an outstanding job. Special thanks also to the volunteers from our great company partners: 1st United Credit Union, Google, Huntington Learning Center, Intel, Lawrence Livermore Lab, Mirador Capital Partners, Oracle, Roche, StartUp Genius and Workday – who made such a great impact on our students. We plan to expand the program to include DECA and AVID students and to program at Amador Valley High School. We thank everyone for their great support!
- PPIE is collaborating with Road Trip Nation – a national nonprofit at www.roadtripnation.org – to share career path stories with students. Business professionals are invited to share how they grew their careers so that students can see the broad range of paths that are available regardless of what post-high school plans they have.
Our council members contribute in two or more of the following ways:
- Provide an annual contribution that reflects capacity and commitment to give. Our request is $100 per year.
- Attend at least two gatherings per year – Board reception, Pleasanton Run for Education, Fall Gala, small group business-school collaboration lunches, and special gatherings.
- Contribute to the development and success of PPIE initiatives.
- Recommend and recruit PPIE Advisory Council members and PPIE Ambassadors who serve as liaisons with our schools.
If you are interested in learning more about our Advisory Council, please contact Executive Director Steve McCoy-Thompson and we will gladly reach out to you. The following list includes Advisory Council members and friends of PPIE who support our mission and want to promote greater business-school collaboration to support Pleasanton schools and students. We appreciate your great support!
