Pleasanton schools rank among the best in the state – we have 7 of the top 12 elementary schools in the SF Bay Area; 3 of the top 10 middle schools in California; and are two main high schools are among the top 500 in the U.S. (out of 26,000 public schools) – according to www.niche.com To reach these heights, we – like other school districts – need parent support. The above table compares Pleasanton with other districts in the region. Pleasanton does not have a parcel tax and we receive average state government funding via LCFF (the California Local Control Funding Formula). Therefore, we look to parents to help fund supplemental staff. Other districts typically ask about $1,000 per student and have parent participation rates of 50% to 70%. At PPIE, our annual request is for $500 (and we gladly accept any amount that fits your budget) while our participation rate remains below 20%.
For every 20% of Pleasanton families who donate, PPIE can give $500,000 more for our schools for needed supplemental staff. If we achieve the same levels as surrounding districts with 50%-80% participation, PPIE would raise up to $4 million for our schools. Thank you for your consideration!
