PPIE’s Night of the Stars Raises $90k for our Schools

PPIE held a wonderful Night of the Stars Fall Gala on October 13 at Castlewood Country Club, raising over $90,000.  Guests enjoyed free wine pours by school principals and our principals received mock Academy Award styled trophies (re-purposed children’s sports trophies) to honor their starring role at school.  School principals also shared stories about how staff, particularly our librarians, have a positive impact on our students.  This year PPIE funded supplemental hours for key staff at Pleasanton schools, including library assistants, site tech specialists, counselors and new class sections in high school.  Accordingly, the gala included a special Fund a Need effort that raised funds for more library staff hours at Pleasanton schools.  PPIE also donated movie lighting kits to each school for students to use in their video production.  In addition to the awards, the event featured over 35 raffle items with something for everyone and great auction items – from L.A. adventures to see tapings of The Voice and Late Late Show with James Corden, to vacation homes near Monterey and in Hawaii, to a special lunch with Superintendent David Haglund.  Please visit here to view a selection of photos by Chuck Deckert, or visit our Facebook page.

PPIE offers special thanks to our wonderful sponsors: The Walker Family Trust (title sponsor); Oracle and Robert Half International (award sponsor); Black Tie Transportation, Fremont Bank, Made to Order, UNCLE Credit Union, Veeva, and Wells Fargo (star sponsor); Keenan & Associates, Micaela Ochoa, Salt Craft and Troxell Communications (supporting sponsors); and  Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo, Dannis, Woliver & Kelley, Fagen, Friedman & Fulfrost and Office Depot (contributing sponsors). Finally, we want to give a special shout out to our wonderful volunteers, including our great school principals for the wine pours and special words; the National Charity League for a raft of volunteers; to super volunteers Tasha Buser, Dawn Chatham and Janet Grell; and to our PPIE Ambassadors. We could not have done this without you!
