California ranks among the lowest states in the nation for per-pupil spending on education, and even with the recent rebound in the economy, funding from the state for Pleasanton Unified is still not enough to restore all our programs cut in the Great Recession! Most high-quality school districts in the Bay Area fill this gap with parcel taxes and/or supplemental community funding at an average donation of $1,000 per student. Since Pleasanton does not have a parcel tax, PPIE relies on donations from the community to maintain high quality education and to provide state-of-the-art resources. PPIE’s suggested donation amount is $350 per student, or any amount that is meaningful to your family.

What is PPIE’s goal? The primary goal is to significantly increase the percentage of families, community members and businesses supporting high quality education for Pleasanton students through PPIE at any level of giving.

Currently we have a 15% family participation rate while surrounding communities achieve participation levels of 50-80%. Did you know with every 20% of students supported at the suggested donation amount, we raise $1 million for our schools? With 50%-80% participation, PPIE would raise $2.5-4 million annually for our schools. By working together we can make a significant impact each year for our students.
